Camogie League Champions

On Saturday in Greenford the Division One Final of the Mixed Camogie League between Fr Murphy’s and Croydon Celts took place,  .Fr. Murphy’s  drew first blood with a point from Laura O Hagan, this was quickly equalised by Croydon’s Una McGouran, then  Aisling Dunphy, plucked a ball out of the sky in the half back line, passed to Shona Cunningham, who struck it onto the edge of the Croydon square, where  Angie Fogarty , beat goalkeeper Bridget Hehir to flick the ball to the net for a Murphy’s goal, this was quickly followed by a superb, long range point by Shona Cunningham, Fr Murphy’s now looked to be in control, but Una McGouran was finding room around the centre of the field and she pointed to leave the score Fr Murphy’s 1-02 to Croydon’s 0-02 , points from Laura O Hagan and Shona Cunningham, had the girls in purple &gold back in control, Croydon again pulled a point back, but the Katie O Brien, who was one of the players of the game  found the corner of the Croydon net from a free , before Laura O Hagan pointed to leave the half time score, Fr Murphy’s 2-05 to Croydon’s 0-03 .

From the off in the second half Murphy’s Laura O Hagan fired over a point, then points from Shona  Cunningham (2) and Katie O Brien, had them cruising, but Croydon came back, with a goal and a point, however this stirred the Murphy’s girls on the greater things, a super point by Elaine Hayes, followed by further points from Laura O Hagan and Katie O Brien, before Angie Fogarty completed her hatrick with a brace of goals, to leave Fr Murphy’s as league champions on a score of  4-12 to Croydon’s 1-05
